BT

Towards the beginning of my career in IT, I worked as a Systems and Software Engineer for BT, where I was responsible for the development of the work scheduling sub-system fot BT's Power Inventory and Routines Manager (PIRM).

This system produced the daily maintenance tasks required to ensure a consistent supply of electrical power to hundreds of BT exchanges across the UK.

As well as managing contract staff, my role included the design of the database structure, and hands-on development - using Oracle Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools and Oracle Forms.

Despite being one of my first project management responsibilities, this remains one of my largest.
